All the notes remain - a populated solo
Performance by Litó Walkey and Biliana Voutchkova
The process for this work began with a commission from Labor Sonor's Moving Music Festival in Berlin. Both obvious and peripheral details of sound techniques,
such as microtones, glissandos, subtones, loops, repetition, differentials and decay, are observed, and in turn, become parameters for micro performative constructions. We 'make-believe' that what we're already doing can be enough – that the act of revealing one's attention to something (making sound,
observing and showing a point in the space, telling a story, listening to a tapping on the wall) has potential to be transformed into a repeatable performative construction. Analysis - as close observation of detail – enables the formation of specific invitations for creations. These details – turned - invitation create
parameters for specific repeatable sounds, physical gesture, spacial and temporal composition. these contain within them all the notes that made them.
All the notes - musical, mental, notated and spoken – remain present, recursively forming and informing throughout the processes of creation and performance.
This project is Biliana and Litó's first collaboration. They have both been immersed in creative processes within the genres of music, dance and performance for
20 years. Their work shares dedication to collaborative processes that search for points of intersection and startling combinations that surprise and awaken the
mind allowing people to experience shifts of understanding and awareness within the community of the performative event. They also both appreciate listening
for the unnoticed, the almost invisible and the very quiet. This work of Voutchkova and Walkey is a densely occupied soliloquy.
