Herstory I
Performance in collaboration with Eva Baumann
What happens when contemporary dance meets up with music of various historical periods? An atmosphere of concentrated encounter is
the governing mode for a very dynamic evening: at times movement and sound stand in a symbiotic-harmonic relationship to one another,
at other times they co-exist in discrete parallel universes or contradict one another emphatically. The artists are in constant and acute
awareness of one another and their submersion in the musical/choreographic moment. A lively interplay of sound and movement.
This performance by Eva Baumann and Biliana Voutchkova features exclusively works by women composers. Their journey leads
from the medieval world of Hildegard von Bingen to characteristic Baroque sonorities and on to
contemporary compositions by Joanna Bruzdowicz, Biliana Voutchkova and Ruth Schonthal.
