The Landstages Collective organically defined itself in 2023. The four like-minded artists have known each other since 2010. They have had frequent meetings in various settings exchanging, improvising, researching and creating by exploring the possibilities of symbiosis between their individual artistic languages. All of them are experienced improvisors working with real time composition, instant relation and listening/reacting to the momentum. As a collective, they create multidisciplinary performances connected to nature and environmental site specific work. The four eclectic artists with different backgrounds are finding common ground in their never ending inspiration drawn from various soundscapes and ecological environments worldwide. They integrate themselves sensitively into an existing location they carefully choose, and look for ways to immerse into the existing acoustic ecosystem. The collective works sustainable and mindful with 0 waste, recycling all natural materials back to nature and reusing all other props for future performances and exhibitions.
The quartet is wide open to experimentation, following an intuitive approach where each individual creates in symbiosis, overcoming the deficit of any pre-existing artistic boundaries. Out of the Landstages Collective ongoing research immerges work for duo, trio or quartet - from concerts and audiovisual performances, to long durational formats, exhibitions, outdoor performances, live drawing, experimental poetry ad field recordings often mixed with instruments and objects played live.
PROJECTS
SHARED SPACE OF THE LIBERATED SOUND
|
The Landstages Collective created the exhibition part and performed live daily for three consecutive days alongside other changing guests of the project. The exhibition included various audio visual installations - screened videos, sculptures made from natural materials collected in Bulgaria and small mechanical motors, wall applications and written texts alongside an aural multichannel composition played through a set of discreet small speakers. Shared Space of the Liberated Sound was initiated by Biliana Voutchkova and the Goethe-Institut Bulgaria. The event was dedicated to the Echtzeitmusik scene of Berlin and offered a space for sharing and experiencing a varied live program alongside the exhibition att the white cube gallery of Toplocentrala Sofia. Biliana Voutchkova - violin/voice, Walli Höfinger - voice/performance Since 2012 the two artists frequently meet in Reichenow to exchange, improvise, share questions and research into the possibilities of symbiosis between the collective palette of personal language of each performer - those including sound, music, text, singing, movement, dance etc. Both are experienced improvisors working with real time composition, instant relation and listening/reacting to the momentum. The duo works on the threshold of sense/non-sense and searches for variety of forms detached from context. PEDESIS

OSM - open sound & movement collective
OSM is a forum for interdisciplinary exchange between sound and movement. Founded by violinist Biliana Voutchkova and choreographer Louise Wagner, it is a platform for continuous collaboration grounded in similarities of artistic approach connected with life style, common knowledge and understanding of contemporary music/performing arts gained through education and long experience in the field, and also in the wish to discover new means of expression and develop new performative practices. Musicians and performers gather together at regular intervals to investigate the possibilities of the interplay between sound and movement and to extend it. Each meeting is preceded by a common musical and physical match to promote the physical presence of the musicians and, on the other hand, the musical understanding of the performers. We are inspired by our natural unpretentious body/mind functions, the spontaneous respond to the momentum and the ability to manipulate it.Through experiencing together in various settings - rehearsing in different surroundings, walking in nature, hiking in the mountains, brain storming, improvising, experimenting and exchanging ideas we are also conducting our research, constantly bringing new elements of importance into it. Our aim is to always incorporate this research into a performance where the boundry line between movers and musicians is diminished and even not existing anymore. OSM held regular monthly series at Radial System V in 2012 and continued with a residency at HZT/Ufer Studios in 2013.
